Colonial d&d
I had an idea from watching the teasers of the new fable coming out to actually make a od&d world in a gunpowder colonial type setting. I think this would actually be very interesting and could even see all the different races having there own countries and empires etc. This would be a very political game of course but the other themes of the era such as science and free thought as well as exploration seem like really awesome themes for a d&d game. Some mechanics will need to be modified to match the era such as the armor class system and maybe some more rules for gunpowder weapons and duels etc. When i have devoloped more ideas i will try to post them...

Campaign falling down..
Well even though i have not posted about it much my campaign i was running has kind of fell through. Some of the players have become really disinterested in the good ole d&d for awhile and i am running other games as well. But there is hope on the horizon for my little sister, brother, and my sisters friends are begging me to run a game. I asked my brother the other day if i did run a game what system would he prefer he said original d&d.... ahhh...

House Rules
I am currently running the game based mostly on the 3lbb with some materials ripped from greyhawk... here is the run down of other rules i'm using
*Pc's are rolled up 4d6 drop the lowest arrange as desired
*PC's start at level 2 with max hp
*Hit-Dice have been modified to Fighters 1d6+1, Clerics 1d6, and magic-users/thieves 1d6-1 minimum of one per a level. After level 9 fighters gain +2 hp per a level and all other classes +1 with con bonus.
*Using thieves for now... and extended spell lists from greyhawk
*Str 0f 15+ grants +1 to hit and damage
*Wis of 15+ grants +1 to all saves
*Magic-Users can create scrolls at any level
*Dual Wielding is allowed granting a =1 to attack magic bonus for weapons do not stack while dual wielding but rather take the greatest bonus. Two-Handed weapons roll two damage die take the highest.
*New home brewed class of berserker which i will post here later
*Magical protections such as armor and shields etc. stack on top of current AC.
*Proubly switching to ascending AC for conveince...

Running an OD&D game...

A quick intro i guess is that i love old stuff... Anything old from movies to games to music. The original is always better.
Well i have always loved the style and just cool factor of the 3 LBB but never really had the balls to try my hand at running a campaign using these rules. A couple of months ago i ran into philotomy's site (as linked below) and it inspired me to run a game using the original rules. For those not familiar 3lbb referring to the three little brown books as the original dungeons and dragons rules came. They are quirky, incomplete, and sometimes down right hard to interrupt and read but i love all these factors. Old d&d to me is like listening to a record on vinyl. Its got pops and crackles and isn't digitally remastered or nothing like that but it has that nice warm quality to it that you just can't escape and well lets not forget about the aesthetic that come along with it. The cool thing is i really did not have to convince anyone in my group that running an od&d game would be cool considering they are new to d&d in the first place and second the previous campaign i was running with them was a 1e game. They only one who complained really was the one old veteran who has played to much wotc crap in my opinion and preferred me to run 4e.3.5.6.0 or something like that... But once we got into it everyone has been having a blast. The campaign started out as a large mega-dungeon in concept but now has moved to more of a wilderlands/sandbox type game where the players have complete control over where they want to go and what they want to do. I will be posting are progress as well as maps, character sheets, houserules, etc. in the coming days as well as the occasional rant of sorts.
Stay Tuned!!
